Member Biography:

Fred Hellberg

Fred Hellberg resides in Thurston County. He retired in 2003 after working for 33 years in state government. Most recently during his career, he served for 17 years in various senior executive policy advisor positions in the Office of the Governor, with responsibility for a wide range of general government issues, including policies and legislation relating to the State Liquor Control Board. He also worked for the State Office of Financial Management as assistant director for policy development and in senior committee staff positions for the Washington House of Representatives and the Arizona Legislative Council.

Mr. Hellberg served in the U.S. Peace Corps in Panama from 1966 to 1969. He is currently an Alternate Public Member on the Washington State Commission on Judicial Conduct and is Vice-President of the Board of the Friends of Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge. He received his BA degree in Political Science from the University of Washington and his MA from the University of Arizona.
