Member Biography:

Mary Segawa
TOGETHER!

After spending over sixteen years in the student services field, Mary Segawa embarked on a new career in social services with her move to Olympia eleven years ago. Having supervised nearly every program and aspect of the agency, three years ago she began serving as the Executive Director of TOGETHER!, a non-profit agency in Thurston County focusing on community mobilization and the prevention of youth substance abuse and violence.

Prior to coming to Olympia, Mary worked at Missouri State University, Ball State University, Central Missouri State University, and the University of Washington. She has degrees in Psychology from Kansas State University and Counseling from Missouri State University. In 1998 she was presented the “Women of Achievement in Leadership” award from the YWCA of Olympia. In 2002, she completed Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist Training sponsored by the WA State Dept. of Social and Health Services Division of Alcohol and Substance Abuse.

Mary’s husband, Mike Segawa, is Associate Dean for Student Development at the University of Puget Sound. They have two teenage children, students at Western Washington University and Olympia High School.
