August 31, 1999 STATE RECEIVES $23,500 FROM UNTAXED CIGARETTES AUCTION Olympia- The state will receive $23,500 from an auction of untaxed cigarettes seized by the Liquor Control Board. 1,320 cartons and 1,110 singles packs of domestic cigarettes were auctioned off to the highest wholesale bidder August 31, 1999 in Tumwater. The wholesaler must pay the cigarette tax of $8.25 per carton or .82 cents per pack in addition to their bid. The Liquor Control Board will recoup the money paid for storage of the cigarettes, and the remainder will go into the State General Fund.
