SIX LIQUOR LICENSEES SELL ALCOHOL TO MINORS

Pierce County- Liquor Control Board enforcement agents conducted 52 liquor compliance checks in conjunction with the Pierce County DUI Task Force. The March 17 operation focused around the Buckley, Sumner and Bonney Lake areas.
   
During compliance checks, an 18 or 19 year old operative, enter either a restaurant or a grocery store to attempt to buy alcoholic beverages. Of the 52 compliance checks, six businesses sold to a minor:

  • Log Cabin Pub and Eatery; 2719 East Valley Hwy, Sumner
  • Chevron Market Express; 18321 Hwy. 410, Bonney Lake
  • S & S Market; 723 Ainsworth S., Tacoma
  • Qwik Mart; 21406 Hwy. 410, Buckley
  • Sumner Red Apple; 822 Alder Avenue, Sumner
  • Tip Top Market; 6403 Steilacoom Blvd, Lakewood

Employees who sold alcohol to the minor operatives received a criminal citation. The liquor licensees will receive an administrative violation from the Liquor Control Board, with a proposed first time penalty of a five day suspension or a $500 monetary option.
