LIQUOR LICENSEE PAYS $20,000 FINE TO LIQUOR CONTROL BOARD

Puyallup- The licensee of the Texaco Star Mart, located at 16104 Meridian East in Puyallup, will pay a $20,000 fine and begin a 75 day liquor license suspension March 17, 2000.

The penalty is a result of a violation issued to Texaco Star Mart for selling and furnishing alcohol to a minor. The violation took place on March 26, 1999, when an employee sold alcohol to a minor during a compliance check conducted by the Liquor Control Board.

This is Texaco Star Mart’s fourth violation for selling alcohol to a minor.  The previous violations took place on the following dates:

  • June 6, 1997
  • June 9, 1998
  • June 11, 1998

Along with the above penalties the licensee has also agreed to a number of conditions, which include but are not limited to:

  • Mandatory identification checks for all alcohol purchases.
  • Each new employee is required to attend training for alcohol and tobacco sales.
  • Institute a mandatory twice-yearly alcohol and tobacco management training through Liquor Control Board courses.

The 75 day liquor license suspension will begin March 17, 2000, and last through May 31, 2000.
