Liquor Agents Russ Donahue, Jackie Eliason and Oly Harrison examine evidence seized on May 12, 2001, from an I D Counterfeit Operation.
On Friday, May 11, Liquor Control Board enforcement agents shut down a major regional fake I.D. operation in Tacoma where agents seized dozens of fake driver's licenses. The Tacoma Police Department and the FBI assisted in serving the search warrant after the Board conducted an investigation, which involved several days of surveillance. A 20-year old man has been arrested in conjunction with the operations. The LCB enforcement agents were led to his apartment by an anonymous tip.
Agents also seized five computers, scanners, lamination machines and fake ID applications. Agents believe the operation may have produced thousands of fake Washington and Nevada driver's licenses. Investigators believe most of the ID buyers were underage. This is the biggest fake ID operation that LCB enforcement agents have seen in recent memory.
