Spokane County- Liquor Control Board Enforcement Agents conducted 13 tobacco compliance checks on Thursday, October 17, in Spokane County. During the compliance checks a 15 or 16 year old will enter either a restaurant or a grocery store to attempt to buy cigarettes. Of the 13 compliance checks, none of the businesses checked sold cigarettes to a minor.
The Liquor Control Board commends the following businesses for passing Thursday’s compliance checks:
- Taj Groceries 1122 1st St., Cheney
- Four Lakes Grocery 10021 Hwy 904, Four Lakes
- Gary’s Chevron 2302 1st St., Cheney
- A&D Mini Mart 2654 1st St., Cheney
- Denny’s Thrift 210 S. Broad St., Medical Lake
- One Stop Convenience Store 710 E. Hwy 902, Medical Lake
- EZ Mart 11115 W. SR 902, Spokane
- Paksco Mini Mart 13659 W. Sunset Hwy, Airway Heights
- Airway Heights Speedi Shoppe 13211 W. Sunset Hwy, Airway Heights
- Maid O’Clover 1418 S. Garfield Rd., Airway Heights
- West Plains Conoco 11980 W. Sunset Hwy, Airway Heights
- JK Gas & Grocery 4617 N. Nevada, Spokane
- 7-11 Food Store #2301 1006 W. Garland, Spokane
Clerks who sell tobacco to a minor receive a $50 fine for a first time offense. Licensees receive a penalty based on the following guidelines:
- First offense $100 dollar fine,
- Second offense $300 dollar fine,
- Third offense $1,000 dollar fine with a six-month license suspension and,
- Fourth offense is a $1,500 dollar fine with a 12-month license suspension.
