Chelan County- Liquor Control Board enforcement agents conducted 15 tobacco compliance checks on Friday, October 25, in Chelan County. During the compliance checks a 15 or 16 year old will enter either a restaurant or a grocery store to attempt to buy cigarettes. Of the 15 compliance checks the following 5 businesses sold cigarettes to a minor:
- Entiat Food Center Entiat Shopping Center, Entiat
- Safeway #3265 W 106 Manson Road, Chelan
- Bill’s Gas & Country Store 817 East Woodin, Chelan
- Lakeside Convenience Store 2208 West Woodin, Chelan
- Pat & Mike Moods 53 S Shore Drive, Chelan
The Liquor Control Board commends the following businesses for passing Friday’s compliance checks:
- Parkside Grocery 21325 Hwy 207, Leavenworth
- Midway Village & Grocery 14193 Chiwawa Loop Road, Leavenworth
- Cove Resort 22494 Chiwawa Loop Road, Leavenworth
- Just Plain Grocery & Gas 18632 Beaver Valley Road, Leavenworth
- Ingall’s Creek Trading Post 3057 US Hwy 97, Peshastin
- Lucky’s Mini Mart 14579 Hwy 97 Alt, Entiat
- Chelan Market 310 Manson Road, Chelan
- Chelan Shell Foodmart 301 East Woodin, Chelan
- Chelan Chevron 232 East Woodin, Chelan
- Lake Chelan E-Z Mart 302 East Woodin, Chelan
Clerks who sell tobacco to a minor receive a $50 fine for a first time offense. Licensees receive a penalty based on the following guidelines:
- First offense $100 dollar fine,
- Second offense $300 dollar fine,
- Third offense $1,000 dollar fine with a six-month license suspension and,
- Fourth offense is a $1,500 dollar fine with a 12-month license suspension.
