Snohomish County- Liquor Control Board enforcement agents conducted 8 compliance checks on Saturday, November 16, in Snohomish County. During the compliance checks, an 18, 19 or 20 year old will enter a restaurant, tavern, or grocery store to attempt to buy alcohol. Of the 8 compliance checks the following 3 businesses sold alcohol to a minor:
- Totem Grocery & Gas 105 Tulalip rd., Marysville
- Norm’s Market 10027 Lundeen Parkway, Lake Stevens
- Machias Grocery 1415 Machias Rd., Snohomish
The Liquor Control Board commends the following businesses for passing Saturday’s compliance checks:
- A - N - D Foods 5310 88th Street N. E. Marysville
- Jackpot Food Mart 5830 Grove Street Marysville
- Jackpot Food Mart 1034 State Ave Marysville
- Priest Point Grocery 129 Tulalip Road N. E. Marysville
- Lake Stevens Mini Mart 12307 N. Lake Shore Dr Lake Stevens
Clerks who sell alcohol to a minor receive a criminal citation. Liquor licensees receive either an administrative violation notice (AVN) or a written warning from the Liquor Control Board based on past offenses.
The first time AVN penalty for selling alcohol to a minor is a five-day suspension or a $500 fine, a second offense is a 7-day suspension with no monetary option, a third offense is a 30-day suspension with no monetary option, and a fourth offense is a license cancellation.
