Renton- Liquor Control Board enforcement agents conducted 25 tobacco compliance checks on Friday, November 15, in Renton. During the compliance checks a 15 or 16 year old will enter a restaurant, tavern, or grocery store to attempt to buy cigarettes. Of the 25 compliance checks, the following 5 businesses sold cigarettes to a minor:
- Cedar Rapids Grocery 18015 Maple Valley Hwy
- Kennydale Chevron 1419 N 30th St.
- Dino’s Pub 1800 NE 44th
- Denny’s Restaurant 4750 Lake Washington Blvd.
- Sunset Blvd. Shell 2800 NE Sunset Blvd.
The Liquor Control Board commends the following businesses for passing Friday’s compliance checks:

Clerks who sell tobacco to a minor receive a $50 fine for a first time offense. Licensees receive a penalty based on the following guidelines:
- First offense $100 dollar fine,
- Second offense $300 dollar fine,
- Third offense $1,000 dollar fine with a six-month license suspension and,
- Fourth offense is a $1,500 dollar fine with a 12-month license suspension.
