0 out of 17 Tobacco Licensees sell Cigarettes to Minors

Douglas and Perry County- Liquor Control Board enforcement agents conducted 17 tobacco compliance checks on Sunday, November 17, in Douglas and Perry County. During the compliance checks a 15 or 16 year old will enter either a restaurant or a grocery store to attempt to buy cigarettes. Of the 17 compliance checks, none of the businesses checked sold cigarettes to a minor.

The Liquor Control Board commends the following businesses for passing Sunday’s compliance checks:
  • Wenatchee Golf & Country Club 1600 Country Club Dr., East Wenatchee
  • Mini Mart 23 S. June St., East Wenatchee
  • Mickey O’Reilly’s 560 Valley Mall Parkway, East Wenatchee
  • Clearwater Steak House & Saloon 838 Valley Mall Parkway, East Wenatchee
  • 5-T’s Restaurant and Lounge 859 Valley Mall Parkway, East Wenatchee
  • Minn’s Club 845 Valley Mall Parkway, East Wenatchee
  • Andersons Grocery, A family tradition 711 S. Clark St., Republic
  • Beaver Trap Junction 1201 S. Clark St., Republic
  • Republic Chevron 30267 E. Hwy 20, Republic
  • Big Gib 30396 E. Hwy 20, Republic
  • Hitch-in-Post Restaurant & Lounge 628 S. Clarke St., Republic
  • Pine Grove Junction 15267 Hwy 21 N., Republic
  • Cougar Corner C-Store 2141 Hwy 21, Curlew
  • Curlew Store 822 River St., Curlew
  • Curlew Saloon 4 River St., Curlew
  • Wolfgang’s Country Store Hwy 21 N., Curlew
  • The Malo Store 17510 Hwy 21 N., Malo 
Clerks who sell tobacco to a minor receive a $50 fine for a first time offense. Licensees receive a penalty based on the following guidelines: 
  • First offense $100 dollar fine, 
  • Second offense $300 dollar fine,
  • Third offense $1,000 dollar fine with a six-month license suspension and,
  • Fourth offense is a $1,500 dollar fine with a 12-month license suspension.
