Clallam County- Liquor Control Board enforcement agents conducted 10 tobacco compliance checks on Wednesday, November 27, in Clallam County. During the compliance checks a 15 or 16 year old will enter either a restaurant or a grocery store to attempt to buy cigarettes. Of the 10 compliance checks, the following 3 businesses sold cigarettes to a minor:
- Bill’s Texaco Food Mart 490 Forks Ave N, Forks
- Sappho Junction 203841 Hwy 101 N, Beaver
- Pb’s Hwy 112 & Wheel Rd, Clallam Bay
The Liquor Control Board commends the following businesses for passing Wednesday’s compliance checks:
- Forks Thriftway 950 S Forks Ave, Forks
- Rons Food Mart 170 Forks Ave N, Forks
- 2go Tesoro 171 N Forks Ave, Forks
- Hungry Bear Café Mp 206 Hwy 101 W, Beaver
- Lake Pleasant Grocery Hwy 101, Beaver
- Al’s Mini Mart 1673 Frontier St, Clallam Bay
- Clallam Bay Grocery Store 16810 Hwy 112, Clallam Bay
Clerks who sell tobacco to a minor receive a $50 fine for a first time offense. Licensees receive a penalty based on the following guidelines:
- First offense $100 dollar fine,
- Second offense $300 dollar fine,
- Third offense $1,000 dollar fine with a six-month license suspension and,
- Fourth offense is a $1,500 dollar fine with a 12-month license suspension.
