Grays Harbor County- Liquor Control Board enforcement agents conducted 10 tobacco compliance checks on Friday, December 6, in Grays Harbor. During the compliance checks a 15 or 16 year old will enter either a restaurant or a grocery store to attempt to buy cigarettes. Of the 10 compliance checks, none of the businesses checked sold cigarettes to a minor.
The Liquor Control Board commends the following businesses for passing Friday’s compliance checks:
- Box Office Video 172 W Chance A La Mer NW, Ocean Shores
- Hogan Corner Gull 2275 State Road 109, Hoquiam
- J M Mini Mart 3022 Simpson, Hoquiam
- James Grocery 401 North B St., Aberdeen
- Young’s Quick Stop #1 100 North G St., Aberdeen
- Young’s Quick Stop #2 605 W. Market, Aberdeen
- 7-Eleven 2303-24379C 904 Market St. E., Aberdeen
- Texaco Mini Mart 821 Wishkah E., Aberdeen
- AM/PM ARCO #5287 701 W Heron, Aberdeen
- Simpson Avenue Food Mart 2406 Simpson Ave., Hoquiam
Clerks who sell tobacco to a minor receive a $50 fine for a first time offense. Licensees receive a penalty based on the following guidelines:
First offense $100 dollar fine,
- Second offense $300 dollar fine,
- Third offense $1,000 dollar fine with a six-month license suspension and,
- Fourth offense is a $1,500 dollar fine with a 12-month license suspension.
