Seattle- Liquor Control Board enforcement agents conducted 10 compliance checks on Tuesday, December 3, in Seattle. During the compliance checks, an 18, 19 or 20 year old will enter a restaurant, tavern, or grocery store to attempt to buy alcohol. Of the 10 compliance checks, 3 businesses sold alcohol to a minor:
- Alexis Hotel 1007 First Avenue
- Sonya”s Bar & Grill 1919 First Avenue
- Pike Smoke Shop 1411 Second Avenue
The Liquor Control Board commends the following businesses for passing Tuesday’s compliance checks:
- Madison Renaissance Hotel 515 Madison Street, Seattle
- College Club of Seattle 505 Madison Street
- Young’s Market 1210 First Avenue
- Smoke Plus 1432 First Avenue
- The Show Box 1426 First Avenue
- Auntie Stellar”s Market 1523 Second Avenue
- Noc Noc 1516 Second Avenue
Clerks who sell alcohol to a minor receive a criminal citation. Liquor licensees receive either an administrative violation notice (AVN) or a written warning from the Liquor Control Board based on past offenses.
The first time AVN penalty for selling alcohol to a minor is a five-day suspension or a $500 fine, a second offense is a 7-day suspension with no monetary option, a third offense is a 30-day suspension with no monetary option, and a fourth offense is a license cancellation.
