Spokane County- Liquor Control Board enforcement agents conducted 6 compliance checks on Friday, December 13, in Spokane County. During the compliance checks, an 18, 19 or 20 year old will enter a restaurant, tavern, or grocery store to attempt to buy alcohol. None of the businesses checked sold alcohol to a minor.
The Liquor Control Board commends the following businesses for passing Friday’s compliance checks:
- A –N- D Mini Mart 2654 1st. St., Cheney
- TAJ Groceries 112 1st St., Cheney
- Express West 4110 S. Fosseen Rd., Spokane WA 99224
- Maid O’ Clover 3812 E. Highland Rd., Mead
- Broadway Foods 2229 W. Broadway, Spokane
- Monroe Sure Save Grocery 3039 N. Monroe, Spokane
Clerks who sell alcohol to a minor receive a criminal citation. Liquor licensees receive either an administrative violation notice (AVN) or a written warning from the Liquor Control Board based on past offenses.
The first time AVN penalty for selling alcohol to a minor is a five-day suspension or a $500 fine, a second offense is a 7-day suspension with no monetary option, a third offense is a 30-day suspension with no monetary option, and a fourth offense is a license cancellation.
