King County- Liquor Control Board enforcement agents conducted 15 tobacco compliance checks on Friday, December 20, in King County. During the compliance checks a 15 or 16 year old will enter either a restaurant or a grocery store to attempt to buy cigarettes. Of the 15 compliance checks, none of the businesses checked sold cigarettes to a minor.
The Liquor Control Board commends the following businesses for passing Friday’s compliance checks:

- JC’s Market 11801 116th Ave NE, Bothell
- Texaco Star Mart 11700 NE 160th, Bothell
- 7-Eleven 14501 Juanita Woodinville Way NE, Bothell
- Safeway 6850 NE Bothell Way, Kenmore
- Bartell Drug 14442 124th Ave NE, Kirkland
- Safeway 14444 124th Ave NE, Kirkland
- Sav-On Beverages 14310 124th Ave NE, Kirkland
- 7-Eleven 14340 124th Ave NE, Kirkland
- Rite Aid 12530 Totem Lake Blvd, Kirkland
- Chevron 12500 Totem Lake Blvd, Kirkland
Clerks who sell tobacco to a minor receive a $50 fine for a first time offense. Licensees receive a penalty based on the following guidelines:
- First offense $100 dollar fine
- Second offense $300 dollar fine
- Third offense $1,000 dollar fine with a six-month license suspension
- Fourth offense is a $1,500 dollar fine with a 12-month license suspension
