1 out of 12 Liquor Licensees sell Alcohol to a Minor 


January 16, 2004


Lewis County - Liquor Control Board enforcement agents conducted 12 compliance checks on Saturday, January 10 in Lewis County.  During the compliance checks, an 18, 19 or 20 year old will enter a restaurant, tavern, or grocery store to attempt to buy alcohol.  Of the 12 businesses checked the following one business sold alcohol to a minor:

  •  Winlock Texaco 223 State Rt 505, Winlock

The Board commends the following business for passing Saturday’s compliance checks:

  • Dave’s Texaco 416 State Highway 506, Toledo
  • J&G’s Grocery 1101/2 State Highway 506, Vader
  • Mount St. Helen’s Grocery 1247 SR 506, Vader
  • Cee Cee’s Truck Stop 1123 Foster Creek Road, Toledo
  • Cowlitz B.P. 101 Mulford Road, Toledo
  • Short Stop Grocery 560 5th St N, Toledo
  • Toledo Red Apple Market 400 Cowlitz, Toledo
  • Riverview Foodmart & Sporting Goods 112 Cowlitz, Toledo
  • Cedar Villiage 209 E Walnut St, Winlock
  • Handi Store 503 Kerron St, Winlock
  • Contract Liquor Store #600 119 Cowlitz, Toledo

                                                                                          Clerks who sell alcohol to a minor receive a criminal citation. Liquor licensees receive either an administrative violation notice (AVN) or a written warning from the Liquor Control Board based on past offenses.

The first time AVN penalty for selling alcohol to a minor is a five-day suspension or a $500 fine, a second offense is a 7-day suspension with no monetary option, a third offense is a 30-day suspension with no monetary option, and a fourth offense is a license cancellation.
