5 out of 10 Liquor Licensees Sell Alcohol to a Minor

Grant County - Liquor Control Board enforcement officers conducted 10 compliance checks on Thursday, July 29 in Grant County.  During the compliance checks, an 18, 19 or 20 year old will enter a restaurant, tavern, or grocery store to attempt to buy alcohol.  Of the 10 businesses checked the following 5 businesses sold alcohol to a minor:

• Central Chevron and Deli, 603 S. Central Quincy, WA 98848
• Discount Cigarettes, 114 F St. SE Quincy, WA 98848
• Short Stop, 223 E St. SE Quincy, WA 98848
• Short Stop II, 864 Crescent Bar Rd. #29, Quincy, WA 98848
   

The Board commends the following business for passing July 29 compliance checks:

• Girasol Food Mart, 308 F St. Quincy, WA 98848

• Quincy Market, 807 2nd Ave. SW Quincy, WA 98848
• Royal Slope Scales, 12837 RD P SW Royal City. WA 99357
• The Walleye Market, 6897 SR 262 Othello, WA 99344
• Trinidad Trading Post, 9967 Road W-8 NW Quincy, WA 98848
   

Clerks who sell alcohol to a minor receive a criminal citation.  Liquor licensees receive either an administrative violation notice (AVN) or a written warning from the Liquor Control Board based on past offenses. 

The first time AVN penalty for selling alcohol to a minor is a five-day suspension or a $500 fine, a second offense is a 7-day suspension with no monetary option, a third offense is a 30-day suspension with no monetary option, and a fourth offense is a license cancellation.
