OLYMPIA – The Washington State Liquor Control Board has denied the liquor license application for Blue Fin Sushi, 102 S. Samish Way, Suite 105, in Bellingham.
The Liquor Board denied the application for a beer and wine restaurant license after it was determined that the applicant, Song Lee Kim, had purchased and sold beer and wine without a beer and wine restaurant license at this location. The applicant had denied selling alcohol at the location. These facts led investigators to determine that issuance of the license would be detrimental to public safety.
“Selling alcohol without a license completely undermines the integrity of our regulatory role,” said Thomas Dixon, Liquor Board Enforcement Supervisor for the Bellingham region.
In addition to the findings of the application investigation, the Board considered Kim’s past record from other establishments that Kim has owned and operated.
When an application for a beer and wine license is denied, the applicant has the option of requesting an administrative hearing or reapplying for a license after one year. There are 2,669 establishments holding active beer and wine restaurant licenses in Washington state.
