(OLYMPIA) - The Washington State Liquor Control
Board (WSLCB) issued an emergency liquor license suspension of 180 days for Redondo
Bar and Grill, a spirits, beer and wine restaurant located at 27019 Pacific Hwy. S.,
Des Moines, effective 6 p.m. October 11, 2006 through 6 p.m. April 8, 2007.
During the suspension period, the Liquor Control Board will take action to revoke the
Redondo Bar and Grill liquor license permanently.
The WSLCB and the City of Des Moines have made repeated attempts to alleviate ongoing
criminal activity and disorderly conduct associated with the establishment. The
licensee has been uncooperative with these attempts and denies responsibility for the
criminal activity occurring in and adjacent to his business. A recent assault
involving the injury of a patron, the operational history and the licensee’s apparent
inability to operate the establishment in a lawful manner were cited as reasons for the
emergency suspension.
The emergency suspension was issued under RCW 66.08.150(4), which authorizes the Board
to summarily suspend a liquor license for 180 days without a prior hearing when it finds
the public health, safety or welfare require emergency action.
