EVERETT RESTAURANT ISSUED 60-DAY
LICENSE SUSPENSION

November 14, 2006

OLYMPIA - The Washington State Liquor Control Board implemented a 60-day liquor license suspension for El Porton Mexican Restaurant and Cantina in Everett on Thursday, Nov. 9, for multiple liquor law violations.

The Board’s investigators determined that the licensee of record, Colmex, Inc., changed corporate officers and stock without obtaining Washington State Liquor Control Board approval. In October 2005, the corporation added Jonny Strauss-Chavez and Zoila Saritama to the corporation. In March 2006, the corporation added Romualdo Zamora to the corporation. The applicants were not approved by the Board, a violation of state liquor laws. The suspension to sell liquor is through January 8, 2007.

In addition to the ownership violation, the licensee was issued administrative violations for allowing consumption of liquor between the hours of 2 and 6 a.m. (5 counts), and allowing an apparently intoxicated person to consume or possess liquor on the licensed premises (2 counts).

The restaurant is located at 9626 Evergreen Way, Everett.

Call the Washington State Liquor Control Board’s toll-free tip line at 1-888-838-3956 to report illegal activity in licensed premises across Washington.
