Bellingham grocery liquor license suspended due to over-service violations

May 09, 2008

BELLINGHAM – The Smart Shop grocery store located at 415 East Holly received two administrative violations for selling to an intoxicated person and will have its liquor license suspended. The suspension is from Friday, May 9 - Saturday, May 24 at 10 a.m.

The two administrative violations stemmed from complaints received from the Bellingham Police Department. An officer patrolling the area twice observed store clerks selling to intoxicated customers on March 25, 2008. The officer questioned the customers outside the store who both confirmed purchasing liquor from the store.

The store will be able to sell non-alcohol products during the suspension.
