Governors Proposal
To evaluate the states retail liquor sales operations, including privatization
options, and make recommendations for improvement through the creation of a balanced task
force.
Goals and Objectives
1) Examine the operations and performance of the Boards Product and Retail Services
Division based upon generally accepted business practices and similar operations in other
states; 2) evaluate the appropriateness of the states monopoly on liquor sales and
alternatives to the current system, including but not limited to privatization options;
and 3) based upon this review and evaluation, submit recommendations for improvements or
modifications in the states retail liquor sales system. In making its
recommendations, the panel will consider business efficiency and economies, public health
and safety, control and enforcement, customer service and convenience, profitability, and
other appropriate criteria.
Meetings
- The committee will meet once a month beginning April 19, 2000. A consultant has been
hired to facilitate meetings. (Meetings may be more frequent as needed to meet the stated
objectives.)
