Press Release

MOUNT VERNON RESTAURANT PAYS $10,000 FINE

January 12, 2000

Olympia- Riverside Lanes, Inc. paid a $10,000 fine in lieu of a license cancellation, for misrepresenting the true parties of interest of the Dragon Inn restaurant located at 225 Riverside Lane in Mount Vernon.

Liquor Control Board enforcement agents received a tip in November 1998, alleging the liquor license did not reflect the true parties of interest of the Dragon Inn. The license of record states Riverside Lanes, Inc., a corporation consisting of Darrell Storkson and Marjorie Storkson as the owners. After a 7 month investigation, agents disclosed that Ken and Mae Wong were in fact parties of substantial interest along with the Storksons.

Agents issued a violation for:

1. True party of interest not reflected on the license
2. Improper record keeping
3. Failure to furnish information and documentation
4. Misstatement of fact

The Board issued a license cancellation in June 1999. The licensee requested an informal discussion with the Liquor Control Board and came to an agreement to pay $10,000 in lieu of canceling the license. In addition to the fine the licensee must file paperwork documenting the hidden interests with the Board as per WAC 314-12-030.
