Spokane- The Liquor Control Board issued a 30 day
emergency suspension to the Terry Tavern, located at 909 Madison street in Seattle, for
criminal activity on the premises. The liquor license privileges of Terry Tavern are
suspended effective October 19,1999 through November 18,1999.
The licensee was warned about suspected drug activity on
the premises based on complaints from the public received by both the Seattle Police
Department and the Liquor Control Board. The licensee denied any involvement in the
alleged criminal activity. The liquor agent provided the licensee with drug prevention
materials and spoke at length to the licensee about how to prevent drug activity.
Continued complaints were received from the public
prompting an undercover narcotics investigation by the Seattle Police Department which
began in February 1999. The investigation revealed that the licensee engaged in, and
knowingly permitted others to engage in, the sale of narcotics in and around the licensed
premises. The licensee was arrested and booked into jail for violation of the Uniform
Controlled Substance Act.
The Liquor Control Board is charging the licensee with a
violation for allowing or engaging in criminal activity and is recommending a liquor
license cancellation. |
