Board accepts petition to open rule-making on extended hours of alcohol service

Request made by the city of Seattle

The Liquor Control Board on October 12 agreed to the city of Seattle’s request to open rule-making regarding hours of alcohol service. Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn and the Seattle City Council formally petitioned the Board to open the rule-making process.

Under Washington Administrative Code 314-11-070, liquor sales are prohibited between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. Mayor McGinn and the Seattle City Council are seeking a new section that would allow local governments to petition the LCB to establish extended hours of alcohol service within local jurisdictions.

Upcoming Extended Hours Hearings

The Liquor Control Board is holding four public hearings regarding the city of Seattle’s petition to open rulemaking for extended hours of alcohol service.

Prior to making a determination of whether to pursue rulemaking, the Board is interested in hearing from community members and leaders, law enforcement at the local, county and state level, neighborhood and community groups, nightlife advocates and other interested parties.

This is your opportunity to provide your comments to the Liquor Board at this hearing.  Whether you support the city of Seattle’s request or oppose it, we want to hear from you.
